We have some beautiful stately homes in the North.

Here are my favourites.

Sledmere House ******* website

In East Yorkshire between York and Bridlington.

This is my top favourite. Stacked with furniture and ancient artefacts I could live here, forever.

 

Nostell Priory ****** website

Nostell Priory

Nostell – in Wakefield – is a beautiful house with fine gardens and fishing on day ticket.

During the year they hold some excellent events – see the website.

Chatsworth House

******* website

A detail of the West Front of Chatsworth HouseIn Derbyshire.

This is the fine home of the duke of Devonshire.

If you are an art lover then this is the place for you.

Harewood house

Home of the earl of Harewood.

A cracking house with extensive views.

Last time I visited they Had a small zoo – good for the kids. I don’t know if it is still there – I will have to revisit.

Haddon Hall

Only a couple of miles or so from Chatsworth House.

I love this place it is steeped in history. check opening times before visiting.
